Mindset for the Arena

The simple answer to what mindset you need to be in the arena is a growth mindset. There is no fixed mindset or identity-based mindset that is going to keep you fighting and operating in the arena. Limited ideas of yourself will not keep you in the arena, especially when things get harder and more challenging and you begin to fail over and over again.

I don't say this as someone who has it all figured out. Every day since three days or so ago, I have asked myself if I am entering the arena, am I in the arena, or am I outside the arena. To be honest, I have become so fed up with myself not seeing things through and overanalyzing, researching, revising, etc., that I think my brain literally begins to shut down when I begin to do those things. So physically, I may not have any choice but to enter the arena and be there as long as I can.

I mean, these are in all areas of life: relationships, career, self-improvement, etc. It's interesting how when you take the time and look at where you are with the understanding that your past decisions have gotten you there, you realize how much you have been on the sidelines of your life, only tapping in when you could guarantee your own success and spectacular performance. At some point, it becomes exhausting and disappointing, and you have to decide: are we going to stay on the sidelines or enter the freaking arena and participate in life?

For me, I am trying to participate in life. Right now, that means:

  1. Following through in the 30-day writing challenge I have given myself.

  2. Following through on the RnB and Ribs event I am planning.

  3. Following through on the GrandValli Table Dinner I am planning too.
